18 Ways to Improve 您r Body Language

There is no specific advice on how to use 您r body language.

What 您 do might be interpreted in several ways, depending on the setting 和 who 您 are talking to.

These are some common interpretations of body language 和 often more effective ways to communicate with 您r body.

First, to change 您r body language 您 must be aware of 您r body language. Notice how 您 sit, how 您 stand, how 您 use 您 hands 和 legs, what 您 do 与某人交谈时。

Some of these tips might seem like 您 are faking something. But fake it til 您 make it is a useful way to learn something new. And remember, feelings work backwards too.

In the beginning easy it's to exaggerate 您r body language. 您 might sit with 您r legs almost ridiculously far apart or sit up straight in a tense pose all the time. That's OK.

And people aren't looking as much as Just play around a bit, practice 和 monitor 您rself to find a comfortable balance.

1. Don't cross 您r arms or legs.

您 have probably already heard 您 shouldn't cross 您r arms as it might make 您 seem defensive or guarded. This goes for 您r legs too. Keep 您r arms 和 legs open.

If there are several people 您 are talking to, give them all some eye contact to create a better connection 和 see if they are listening.

Taking up space by for example sitting or standing with 您r legs apart a bit signals self-confidence 和 that 您 are comfortable in 您r own skin.

4. Relax 您r shoulders.

Nod once in a while to signal that 您 are listening. But don't overdo it 和 peck like Woody Woodpecker.

But don't lean in too much or 您 might seem needy 和 desperate for some approval. Or lean back too much or 您 might seem arrogant 和 distant.

9. Don't touch 您r face.

It might make 您 seem nervous 和 can be distracting for the listeners or the people in the conversation.

10. Keep 您r head up.

Don't keep 您r eyes on the ground, it might make 您 seem 不安全,有点失落. Keep 您r head up straight 和 您r eyes towards the horizon.

This goes for many things. Walking slower not only makes 您 seem more calm 和 confident, it will also make 您 feel less stressed.

If someone addresses 您, don't snap 您r neck in their direction, turn it a bit more slowly instead.

And try to avoid, phase out or transform fidgety movement 和 nervous ticks such as shaking 您r leg or tapping 您r fingers against the table rapidly. 您'll seem worried or nervous 和 fidgeting can be a distracting when 您 try to get something across.

Declutter 您r movements if 您 are all over the place. Try to relax, slow down 和 focus 您r movements.

13. Use 您r hands more confidently.

But don't use them to much or it might become distracting. And don't let 您r hands flail around, use them with some control.

14. Lower 您r drink.

15. Realize where 您 spine ends.

您r spine ends in the back of 您r head. Keep 您 whole spine straight 和 aligned for better posture.

To make the connection better 您 can try a bit of proactive mirroring. If he leans forward, 您 might lean forward. If she holds her hands on her thighs, 您 might do the same.

How 您 feel will come through in 您r body language 和 can make a major difference.

And if 您 try 和 change to many things at once it might become confusing 和 feel overwhelming.

If not, keep on until it sticks. Then take another couple of things 您'd like to change 和 work on them.
